Tokyo Unveiled – A Journey through History, Culture & Athletic Marvels
關東踏破:東京文史及運動之旅


PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION 活動簡介:
This programme aims to expose students to the past and present of the largest metropolitan city in the world – Tokyo. Students will embark on a journey through Japan’s storied past by visiting historical sites in Tokyo, Fujisan-area, Odawara and Yokohama. On the other hand, students will also experience the modern city vibe from attending a J-League football game and a rugby game involving the national teams of Japan and New Zealand. Students will also take part in a series of cultural exchange activities with a local high school.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES 活動目的:

1. Respect for others

  1. Through communicative and collaborative activities, our students learn to respect fellow students of different cultural and educational backgrounds.

  2. By visiting historical monuments and learning from historical figures, students learn to respect other cultures.

2. Commitment

2.1 Watching competitive games between football and rugby teams, students are inspired from the commitment of professional athletes.

2.2 By visiting historical monuments, students learn from their commitment towards their goals.

3. Exercise Generic Skills

3.1 Students learn how to take care of themselves with limited support from their family, reducing their dependence on parents.

3.2 Students exercise organising and summarising skills by taking notes of and reflecting from what they have learned every day.

3.3 Students will be able to critically review and reflect on historical events.

4. Self-regulated learning

4.1 Students will be able to selectively record worth-noting points in their self-maintained learning handbooks.

  • Visit the Odawara Castle (小田原城)

  • Visit the harbour area of Yokohama

  • Attend the J-League football game in Tokyo area
    觀賞一場日本職業足球聯賽賽事
    (e.g. Kawasaki Frontale / FC Tokyo / Tokyo Verdy)

  • Have an early dinner in a restaurant near the football stadium

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel

  • Head to the surrounding areas of Mt. Fuji to visit the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, the Fujisan World Heritage Centre, and/or the Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine

  • Admire the beauty of Mt. Fuji at Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka

  • Have lunch and dinner in a restaurant in the Fuji-Yoshida region

Day 4

28th Jun (Sat)

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel

  • Travel to a local secondary school and conduct a cultural exchange with their students
    前往本地中學進行文化交流活動

  • Witness the modern history of Yokohama in the port area
    在橫濱港區學習近代史

  • Have an early dinner in a restaurant in Yokohama

Day 5

29th Jun (Sat)

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel

  • Have a taste of Japanese martial art culture in immersive Sumo and/or Kendo experience activities
    透過劍道或/及相撲活動體驗日本武道文化

  • Attend the rugby game between Japan Men’s National Team and Maori All Blacks
    觀賞日本國家隊欖球賽事

  • Visit the Meiji Jingu (明治神宮) and scrutinise how ancient and modern history of Japan blend in with each other
    前往明治神宮

  • Have dinner in Shibuya
    涉谷區內晚膳

Day 6

30th Jun (Sun)

  • Buffet breakfast in the hotel
    酒店內早餐

  • Attend a Sunday Mass at St. Ignatius Church
    於東京聖依納爵堂參觀及出席彌撒

  • Head to the airport for departure
    前往機場
