JUNIOR SECONDARY CURRICULUM

The Junior Academic Foundation Curriculum is built on three pillars:

1. Languages
2. Science and Humanities
3. Mathematics and Computer Literacy

1. Our Language education goal is for students to become bi-literate (English and Chinese) and tri-lingual (English, & Cantonese and Putonghua). We emphasize Use of English as the Medium of Instruction and Communication in school.

All subjects are taught in English, except Chinese Language, History Studies, Life & Society, Putonghua and Religious Studies & Ethics. In each Secondary 1 English Language class, a native English teacher co-teaches with a local English teacher, to help Secondary 1 students adapt to an English learning environment. A wide range of co-curricular activities such as lunch time broadcast, movie shows, reading and writing clubs are organized regularly to support students learning in an active learning environment.

2. Science and Humanities subjects focus on exploratory learning and critical thinking. They are designed to prepare students for the Senior Secondary curriculum and the HKDSE examination, as well as for further studies in Hong Kong or outside. Our “4-S” subjects (History Studies, Integrated Science, Life & Society and Religious Studies & Ethics) provide a foundation for Junior School students to tackle Liberal Studies (LS) in the Senior Secondary curriculum.

3. In Mathematics and Computer Literacy each curriculum focuses on training students’ logical reasoning skills. Computer Literacy lessons are conducted in small group to help students acquire of IT knowledge and skills through hands-on activities.
