Good communication skills are a key to success in a changing world undergoing rapid globalization. The aim of our language education is to help students become bi-literate (English and Chinese) and trilingual (English, Cantonese and Putonghua) while possessing a high proficiency in languages for lifelong and life-wide communication. We understand that languages are linked to the cultures and ordinary lives of the peoples who speak the languages. Hence, we adopt a holistic approach in our language education through policies, environments, activities and programmes:
Whole-school approach in using English as the medium of communication (EMC)
Small-class teaching for English Language lessons in Form 1 and Form 2 to assist students in adapting to the EMC environment
Putonghua teaching for Chinese Language lessons in junior forms to cater for students with different Putonghua abilities
School-based curriculum in junior forms focusing on developing the language skills of the students, with strong emphasis on the writing skills
Uninterrupted Morning Reading Programme (UMRP) to promote reading habits
Dynamic and interactive learning activities: Lunch Broadcast, Video Conferencing, Dramas, Debates, Junior Reporter Scheme and competitions in reading, spelling, grammar and phonics
Stimulating environment with state-of-the-art facilities: Language Studio, Performing Arts Theatre and Multi-Media Learning Centre
Experienced and professionally trained language teachers, most with Master degrees
