AWE Programme Inauguration 2010
Activity Week Experience (AWE) programme is a core curriculum for all F1 to F4 and F6 students in the realm of experiential learning. It was held from 25th to 29th January 2010. Through different activities, students could have more learning experiences beyond the classrooms and the school campus. An inauguration ceremony initiated the commencement of the event. The inauguration ceremony was held on 22nd January as a kick-off of these meaningful activities.

Fide Society
Apart from the regular Religious Studies and Ethics lessons, our Fide Society, a student organization which promotes the spiritual formation through student activities, organized an orientation camp. More than 80 students participated and all of them enjoyed in it.

Potential Development Scholarship Presentation
These Scholarships are designated for students who have attained outstanding performances to cover fully or partly their tuition fees. A presentation ceremony has been organized to recognize the students, together with their parents, on their effort paid in the last year.

PTA Annual General Meeting
The PTA Annual General Meeting was held at the school hall and was well attended by more than 200 parents and teachers. A new executive committee was formed with Mr. Eamon Fung as the Chairperson, Mr. David Chan (parent), Ms Ada Ma (parent), Mr. Mervyn Lam (teacher) and Mr. Tony Cheng (teacher) as the Vice-chairpersons. The former executive committee was highly praised for their valuable contributions to the success of the PTA in the past year.

House Meetings
In order to enhance students¡¦ house spirit, the House Meetings have been organized in order to understand more about their house and learn from the virtues can be learnt from the explorers, who are the names of the four Houses: Hillary, Nansen, Piccard and Scott.

Mooncakes from parents
As the mid-Autumn Festival is coming, our parents prepared every teacher and staff member a pack of moon cake to thank all their efforts paid on their sons. It definitely demonstrated the close relationship between our parents and the school.

National Flag Raising Ceremony
As a vital part of the Civic Education, the School will have National Flag Raising Ceremony on different occasions.

Leadership Training Camps
Two sessions of Leadership Training Camps have been organized to provide our student leaders relevant knowledge, skills and values. With such quantities learned from the camps, they can help school educate their schoolmates in the school functions.

Co-Curricular Activities Day
As an integral part of student formation curriculum, all societies, clubs and uniform groups set up their booths to recruit new members. All S1 to S4 and S6 students selected their favourite societies to further extend their academic learning experience outside the classrooms.

Student Association Election
The forum and election of the Student Association were held. Nearly all students cast their votes to select the new cabinet for this year from two teams. After an intensive campaign, the cabinet headed by LEE Yat On, Dave of 6B was finally elected with more than 60% of votes. All students experienced a democratic election. The former Student Association was highly praised for doing a great job done in the past year.

Start-of-school-year Holy Mass
Our annual Start-of-school-year Holy Mass was held at the Cathedral in Central this year. The mass was celebrated by the School Chaplain, Fr. Jimenez. As a vital part of the student formation curriculum, all students and teachers attended the Holy Mass.

Summer Adaptation Programme
The Summer Adaptation Programme was to help our incoming S1 boys prepare for their Secondary studies. The programme included school facility introduction, community visits, English immersion programmes, adolescent health programmes and so on. The graduation ceremony, together with a parenting talk and uniform group exhibition, was held on the last day and well received by both parents and students.

Summer Self-Direction Programme
The Summer Self-direction Programme was to help our incoming S6 boys prepare for their Secondary 6 studies. The programme included theme talks by the Principal, teachers and old boys and a leadership training camp. All students were well-prepared for their plans to universities.

Speech Day 2009
Speech Day is a milestone for our Form 5 and Form 7 students. The Guest of Honour of our 9th Annual Speech Day ceremony was Dr. Kwan Siu Kam, the Principal Education Officer in charge of the NSS curriculum. He gave an enlightening Keynote Address to our graduates regarding the challenges in store for them. The Valedictory Addresses were given by Mok Yi Yun Jonathan, the Form 7 graduate of class 2009, and Ho Ka Chun Daniel, the Form 5 graduate of class 2009.

Interview for the committee of the Red Cross
Interviews were conducted for the committee of the Red Cross YU304 this year. It was used to screen the suitable students with potential leadership skills to lead the Red Cross next year.

Flower Offering for Our Lady
As May is the month of Our Lady, our students offered flowers to Our Lady to show their respect.

Form 6 Mock Interview
All our Form 6 students participated in this Mock Interview co-organized by our Parent-Teacher Association and our Career Team. They learnt the interview and job preparation skills through real and hands-on practices.

HK200 Leadership Programme Inauguration
Three students were accepted to participate in this programme organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. They are Mok Yi Yun, Jonathan of 7B, Chow Hok Him of 6B and Ho Hoi Tung of 6B. The will participate in a serious of leadership training during the summer and an exchange programme to meet officials of China in August.

Students' Piano Recital
This was the first time the School had organized a master session for students to share their learning in musical instruments. Different students performed in this memorable session. Class of 2015 Adaptation Programme (Part 1)
The school organized Part 1 of the Adaptation Programme in May for the students admitted to the Class of 2015. All students attended the programme and the feedback was very positive.

Parenting programme 2009
As parents are the primary educators of our boys, the School emphasizes the importance of parenting. This year, the School provided 2 courses on Basic Parenting and Effective Parenting organized together with the cooperation of Family First Foundation and the Boys and Girls¡¦ Club Association. These programmes have been well received by the parents. Certificates were given out as some sort of recognition for parents¡¦ proactive participation.

Caring China Week
The Moral and Civic Education Committee organized the Caring China Week to enhance students¡¦ civic awareness. In this week, an assembly was held for students to show their sympathy and condolences to the victims of the Sichuan earthquake last year. It was a precious opportunity for our boys to learn the right attitude to care about others with the spirit of love and caring.

The Way of the Cross
This is an important event for us to reflect on how Jesus sacrifices for us and saves us.

Form 5 Mock Result Release
In order to help our Form 5 students prepare better for their HKCEE result release. The Careers Team organized a workshop for them to understand the situation they might face on that day and provide them with guidance on how to choose their careers. This workshop was well received by students.

Water Rocket
In order to enhance students¡¦ experiential learning in Science, the Science Stream organized the Water Rocket Competition for all Form 2 students. Tak Sun Family Fun Day 2009
This is an annual event celebrating joyfulness among all families of Tak Sun schools. Starting with a Sunday Holy Mass, the Family Fun day offered wonderful variety shows, game booths, sports games, auctions, book fairs, charity sales, student performances, teacher performances, and much more. A new record of nearly 1500 parents, teachers and students from the secondary school, the primary school and the kindergarten took part joyfully on that unforgettable day for all Tak Sun family members. English Drama - Romeo and Juliet
The English drama Romeo and Juliet: A modern tale of love and tragedy was put on the stage on 6th March. This drama show was presented by Chunky Onion Productions, a professional educational drama company, and was funded by the English Enhancement Grant from the Education Bureau, the HKSAR Government. Some of our boys participated in the show as masters of ceremonies, actors and vocalists.

Book Sharing by Prof. Sydney Chung & Chan Yik Hei
Prof. Sydney Chung, the former chair professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the CUHK, was invited to deliver a talk on joyfulness in reading on 5th March 2009. He shared his experience and then stayed behind for an autograph session together with a book exhibition. On the same day, Chan Yik Hei, a young inventor in Hong Kong, was invited to share his experience in his inventions. Our students enjoyed the talks and asked for their autographs.

The Second Parents' Forum 2008-2009
The Second Parents¡¦ Forum (for F1 to F4 and F6 only) was organized on 27th February 2009. More than 500 parents in total attending this event were served with a dinner reception. The forums were kicked off by the Principal¡¦s message and the introduction of the Tak Sun study skills framework. They were then split into different sessions according to formation levels: F1, F2 & F4 ¡V formation level reports and forums; F3 ¡V updates on the New Senior Secondary curriculum; F6 ¡V introduction to university admission.

63rd Hong Kong Schools Drama Festival
The School Drama Team, which participated in the 63rd Hong Kong Schools Drama Festival this year, did a fabulous job and got three awards, including the Award for Commendable Overall Performance, the Award for Outstanding Cooperation, and the Award for Outstanding Actor (Hui Ho Lok of 4E). The inauguration ceremony was held on 23rd January as a kick-off of these meaningful activities.

Joint School Christmas Ball 2008
The Ball was organized in our school on 23rd December 2008. This was an event jointly organized by the Student Associations of Sha Tin Methodist College, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School, Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College and S.K.H. Lam Kau Mow Secondary School and our school. Apart from celebrating the true meaning of Christmas, students were able to polish up their interpersonal skills.

Christmas Party 2008
It is an annual event coordinated by the Student Association. The Party this year was held on 19th December 2008. It consisted of three parts, namely, a drama show celebrating Christmas, a Christmas variety show and an individual class Christmas celebration. Not only did the students enjoy the food and presents, but also had a better understanding of the meaning of the Christmas ¡V the birth of Jesus Christ.

Religious Week
In order to further enable students to really become a Christian Gentleman with a Global Outlook, the Religious Week was organized from 16th December 2008 to 19th December 2008. Different activities were organized, including the Holy Mass, the Book Exhibition, the Religious Forum, the Choir Performance and so on. Students had great joy in the learning process.

Singing Contest
It is an annual event organized by the Student Association. After two qualifying rounds with more than fifty participating units, three finalists in the Group Section and six in the Individual Section entered the Final.

Blood Donation Day
More than 70 students and staff demonstrated the virtue of caring through their enthusiastic support on 10th December 2008. They donated blood on that day and fully demonstrated the virtue of caring.

English Week
In order to further enhance an already English-rich environment, the English Week focusing on the British culture was organized from 8th December 2008 to 12th December 2008. Different activities were organized, including the Harry Porter Museum, the Principal in Concert, an English Soccer Match, Drink of the Day, Lucky Draws, Campus Radio, Movie Shows, Fusion BBQ and so on. Students had great fun in the learning activities and tasks related to the United Kingdom.

9th Athletics Meet
The 9th Athletics Meet was held at Shatin Sports Ground on 4th and 5th December. Under the flag of the house emblems, all students participating in the events played different roles such as athletes or cheering team members. Piccard House became the overall champion in all grades! Congratulations!

A Grade Inter-Class Football and Basketball Competition
The A Grade inter-class sports events remarked the start of activities organized by the Student Association in this school year. With the support of teachers and students, all events are full of audiences. The winner of football competition is 5A while the one for the basketball is 6A. Good job, boys!

National Flag Raising Ceremony
As a vital part of the Civic Education, the School will have National Flag Raising Ceremony on different occasions.

Community Charity Day
The Day was an educational activity that provided an opportunity for our students to learn the virtues of caring and generosity, by supporting the Dress Special Day organized by the Hong Kong Community Chest and the Raffle ticket sales organized by the Hong Kong Caritas. Also, in order to enhance students¡¦ house identity, an inter-house fund-raising competition was held. Nearly $45,000 was raised by the students, teachers and staff, which is a new record in the last few years.

V-Show
This was the first time the School had organized this V-show. Apart from Variety, V means Virtues. The School believes that it is an educational opportunity to cultivate virtues among the students. OSOSA Night
The OSOSA Night was held on 4th July at the Student Activity Centre, starting from 6:00 p.m. This was an annual show to conclude students¡¦ effort and recognize their performances in the OSOSA Programme. Wind Bands and choirs had been preparing for this annual show for a long time and it was well received by parents.

Feast of St. Josemaria Escriva
The Solemn Mass for St. Josemaria Escriva was scheduled on 26th June to celebrate the founder of the Opus Dei. The Mass started at 6:30 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Hong Kong Island.

8th Annual Speech Day
This was the first time the School had organized its Speech Day at the end of the school year. It is a strong indication that the F5 and F7 students have completed their studies at Tak Sun. The Guest of Honour of our 8th Annual Speech Day ceremony was Professor Wong Po Choi, the Chairman of the Committee on Home-School Cooperation and the Professor of Department of Information Engineering, CUHK. He gave an enlightening Keynote Address to our graduates. The Valedictory Addresses were given by Ken Wong, F7 graduate of class 2008, who was studying in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Hong Kong and Nelson Wong, F5 graduate of class 2008.

Donation for the Sichuan Earthquake Victims
In order to help and pray for the victims in this disaster, the Student Association, the Prefect Team and the Red Cross have jointly organized a series of donation activities from 16 to 21 May 2008. It included the Charity sale of stationery, board of blessing, donation counter, videos for the latest news, notice boards on causes and effects of earthquake, prayers and blessing, flag at half mast, standing in silence and so on. Finally, more than $30,000 has been collected and donated to the Red Cross. Besides the sympathy and condolences to the victims, it is an opportunity for our boys to learn the right attitude to the spirit of love and caring. [CLICK PHOTO FOR VIDEO]

Tak Sun Family Fun Day is an annual event celebrating joyfulness among all families of Tak Sun schools. Starting with a Holy Mass, the Family Fun day offered wonderful variety shows, game booths, sports games, auctions, book fairs, charity sales, student performance, teacher performance, and much more. More than 1300 parents, teachers and students from the secondary school, the primary school and the kindergarten had joy in participation on this unforgettable day for all Tak Sun family members. Apart from enjoying the food and presents, students had a better understanding of the meaning of the Christmas ¡V the birth of Jesus Christ.

It is an annual event organized by the Student Association. After 2 qualifying rounds with more than 50 participating units, there were 3 finalists in the Group Section and 10 finalists in the Individual Section in the Final.

English Week
In order to further enhance an English-speaking environment and reading habit, the English Week was organized. Different activities were organized, including Drink of the Day, Spellathon, Lucky Draws, Campus Radio, Movie Shows, Fusion BBQ and so on. Students had great fun in the learning activities related to five English-speaking cultures.

Author's Book Sharing by Erica Li
Erica Li, one of the famous local authors, and Zendodric, an old boy of Tak Sun School, were invited to deliver a talk on joyfulness in reading. They shared with the students how reading can help develop their thinking skills. They then stayed behind for a signing sessions together with a book exhibition. Nearly 100 students asked for their autographs.

Blood Donation Day
Nearly 70 students and staff demonstrated the virtue of caring through actions. They donated blood on that day. Our Red Cross Committee (YU304) helped in the promotion of this event.

Class of 2014 Admission Information and Open Day
In order to provide relevant information to the parents about the Class of 2014 Admission, apart from the Information Session, an Open Day was organized for students to demonstrate their talents derived from the learning at Tak Sun. More than 300 people visited our school.

7th Annual Speech Day
It was a great day for us. We started the day with a flag raising ceremony. The Guest of Honour of our 7th Annual Speech Day ceremony was Dr. Thomas Chan Man Hung, Head of Chinese Business Centre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and he gave a Keynote Address on the changes of the world in the past 30 years. The Valedictory Address was given by Au Lut Chi, F7 graduate of class 2007, who was studying in the School of Law of the City University of Hong Kong. [CLICK PHOTO FOR VIDEO]

Inter-house competitions
The monthly inter-house competition was officially kicked off by the basketball competition in November. Each house sent the strongest team to compete for the overall championship.

Parenting Courses
As parents are the primary educators of our boys, the School emphasises the importance of parenting. More than 100 parents enrolled in the annual basic parenting course organized with the cooperation of Family First Foundation and the Parent-Teacher Association.

New school facilities
In order to provide a Quality Education, the School has renovated and installed new facilities. The Performing Arts Theatre helps our boys to immerse in the arts education, including drama, musical, movies and speech training. The Language Studio provides a place for students to enhance their language skills, especially in English and Putonghua.

Red Cross Inauguration Ceremony
The Red Cross Youth Unit 304 was officially set up in the presence of Mr. ML Tong, the Committee Chairperson of Red Cross Youth Units and Dr. Woo, the Principal. Thirteen students became Red Cross members and agreed to serve the society. The chief leader, LI Ho Wang, Kenneth of 7A, received the Honour Badge for his outstanding performance in the Red Cross activities in the ceremony.

After an intensive campaign, Surmount, headed by MOK Yi Yun, Jonathan of 6B, was finally elected with 54% of votes. All students experienced a democratic election. The former Student Association was highly praised for doing a great job done in the past year.

More than 200 parents attending this event were served with a dinner reception. The main purpose was to build a communication platform with parents for the better formation of their sons. Themes were different at different formation levels: F3 - streaming process and setting career goals; F5 - career path planning; F7 - university requirements and JUPAS application procedures.

Class of 2013 New Parents' Orientation Day
The event was organized for all new F1 parents in order to help them understand more about our school, particularly our mission and philosophy of education. The event was warmly supported by about 200 parents.
