We are the first champion in the HKSSF All New Territories Bowling Championships 2018-2019

Our Bowling Team participated in the FIRST HKSSF All New Territories Bowling Championships and we won the overall championship! The team members included LAU Hoi Yue of 1T, LEE Ka Long of 2J, TSANG Tin Ching of 3P, WONG Ching Hung Jimmy of 3P and WONG Yui Nam of 4T. Regarding the individual ranking, WONG Yui Nam got the 2nd place and WONG Ching Hung Jimmy got the 5th place. In the trio event, WONG Yui Nam, LAU Hoi Yue and WONG Ching Hung Jimmy got the champion! In addition, WONG Yui Nam got the highest score (248 points) in a single game! Congratulations! Well done!

This year in the HKSSF New Territories Sha Tin and Sai Kong Area, Tak Sun ranked 3rd overall with 310 points, 50 points more than last year. Swimming, Basketball, Table Tennis and Handball Teams were Champions. We are the bowling champion again!

Our Bowling Team participated in the Inter-Secondary-School Bowling Competition and we won the championship. The team members included LAU Hoi Yue of 1T, LEE Ka Long of 2J, TSANG Tin Ching of 3P and WONG Ching Hung Jimmy of 3P. Regarding the individual ranking, LAU Hoi Yue got the 2nd place, TSANG Tin Ching got the 5th place and WONG Ching Hung Jimmy got the 8th place. In the pair event, LAU Hoi Yue and WONG Ching Hung Jimmy got the 4th place. This competitions is organized by the HKRSS Tai Po Secondary School and sponsored by the Beat Drugs Fund of Narcotics Division, Security Bureau. Congratulations! Well done!

"Stories on Stage" Drama Competition

Students involved in our drama production ‘The Tale of the Phantom Travellers’ recently took part in the ‘Stories on Stage’ Drama Competition organised by the EDB NET Section. Through the students’ hard work, they were awarded two prizes this year: Winners of the People’s Choice Award and 3rd place overall. This is a great achievement by our students as this is only their third year participating in this competition, in which they were competing mainly against Band One schools with many years of experience.

15 Form 5 students studying BAFS took part in the HKICPA Accounting and Business Management Case Competition 2018-2019. They used their accounting and business knowledge to analyze the business case of HKTV and provide business solutions in a written proposal. 5M Man King Yat, Martin also won the HKICPA Scholarship for Secondary Schools awarded on his academic achievement.

Outstanding performance in the Hong Kong Secondary School Art Competition

“Four Spaces” , produced by Ng Tsz Shun of 5W, was awarded an outstanding entry in the Wharf Hong Kong Secondary School Art Competition. The roving exhibition started on 3rd May in the Harbour City and will continue until 19th May. Thereafter it will travel to Plaza Hollywood (22nd May to 31st May) and Times Square (1st July to 10th July). Congratulations!

Our Red Cross Youth Unit 304 won the Drill Competition in the Sha tin North District again! Even the weather is very unstable that day, they performed exceptionally well after a serious a hard and intensive trainings at School! We won the best squad, the best commander, the best deputy commander and the overall championship! The School would like to thank all leaders, especially the old boys’ supports. Well done, boys!

Competitions and activities with our sister school at Guangzhou

A group of students and teachers visited our sister school, Guangzhou No. 2 Middle School from 15 to 16 April and some exchange activities were organized. Our Putonghua Debate Team had a friendly debate with their team and attended some lessons of our sister school. Our Basketball Team also had a friendly match with theirs and then they had a special joint training programme the next day. Another group of students visited the Guangzhou area to understand more about the Greater Bay Area development of China. This is a very encouraging programme under the sister school scheme promoted by the Education Bureau.

Gold Prize again at Joint School Music Competition

Our Wind Band joined the Joint School Music Competition yesterday and competed with lots of different prestigious schools in Hong Kong. We finally received the Gold Prize again with a score of 90! Well done, boys! Thank you for the support provided by the Supervisor, the Principal, teacher advisors and the music instrument instructors. Keep it up and hope you can get good results again in the forthcoming Final on 28th May!

Some of our students joined in the Hong Kong Lacrosse Development Academy and represented Hong Kong to participate in the Greater China Cup held in Shanghai, China. They are Kwong Ka Chun, Lee Yat Hei, and Sin Long Hei Damian from 5P. Well done, boys!

Handball: 1st Runner Up in All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Handball Tournament
Our Handball Team entered 2018-19 All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Handball Tournament Finals with Po Leung Kuk Yao Ling Sun College (保良局姚連生中學) the final score was 17:9 and we came 1st Runner Up on 3rd March in Tin Shui Sports Hall.

Over one hundred old boys, students, teachers and parents who went to Tin Shui Wai to support Handball Team in this historic achievement as it is the best result ever in the last 6 times of entering in the Jing Ying Handball Tournament within this decade.

In the Semi-Final we beat Shun Tak Fraternal Association Leung Kau Kui College (順德聯誼總會梁銶琚中學) 16:12 and in the Quarter-Final we beat Fanling Lutheran Secondary School (基督教香港信義會心誠中學) 23:16 (1st Runner-Up in the Jing Ying Handball Tournament last year. In the first match we beat King Ling College (景嶺書院) 18:8.

Many congratulations to this historic handball team and their coach Mr. Jackie Chan and student assistants Brian Lam, Jethro Leung and Ken Lam.

3rd Visit of The Heights - our sister school in Washington USA

Caritas Bazaar 2018

The Caritas Bazaar was held in Yuen Wo Playground on 18th November 2018. TSSS was responsible for 5 stands. FIDES Society led by teacher Advisors Mr. Andrew Sin and Mr. Luke Chen took charge of the TSSS group. A total of fifty boys volunteered to help and they raised $40,000 including a donation of $29,000 from the school PTA. Many thanks to all who gave generously of their time and effort and all those teachers, parents and students who visited the Bazaar to support our boys.

The 2018 HKDSE continued to show improvement. The table below compares the HKDSE results of Tak Sun students with those of all Hong Kong boys. The school has used the HKEAA colour code – Green means significantly better than all Hong Kong boys and Yellow means better than all Hong Kong boys.

University Fair cum Joint schools mock interview day

On 10th November 2018, more than 600 participants coming from 18 secondary schools all over Hong Kong came to our school to have a taste of college interview. Participants comprised current Secondary 5 and 6 students, teachers and parents.

The UGC-funded institutions, namely BU, CUHK, CityU, EdUHK, LingnanU, PolyU, HKU, HKUST and a non-UGC funded college, TWC, were all invited to offer interview practice to students, to give admission talks and set up information booths.

This event aims at equipping students with the necessary skills for university interview and keeping participants updated with the local study pathways.

This year CHOW Marco Hin Yue, LI Ming Chun and WONG Tsz Yin, Jacko (Form 6M graduates of the Class of 2018) enrolled in degree programmes at CUHK. Marco and Jacko were nominated under the Principal’s Nomination Scheme. Meanwhile CHENG Ka Yin Samuel (Form 6J graduate of the Class of 2016) and SHAM Chun Lok, Samuel (Form 6J graduate of the Class of 2017) had outstanding academic performance in diploma programmes at CUSCS. This year seven other graduates from the Class of 2018 have enrolled in higher diploma programmes at CUSCS.

HKSSF Shatin & Sai Kung Area Swimming Championships 2018-2019

Our school Grade A Swimming Team members won the Championship in the HKSSF Shatin & Sai Kung Area! Together with 2nd Runner-up in Grade B and 3rd Runner-up in Grade C, our Swimming Team got the 1st Runner Up in Boys Overall. Thanks for their hardworking efforts in training throughout the year. They won 5 Gold, 5 Silver, 1 Bronze medals and 3 Third runner-up in the Competitions. Bowen TING of 6W broke the records of 50m & 100m Backstroke again! A thunderous round of applause to all their hardworking efforts and dedication in training throughout the year. Congratulations to Tak Sun Swimming Team!

St John’s Ambulance Brigade Competition

Our St John’s Brigade took part in the New Territories Command Inter-Divisional Competition 2018. Altogether 49 schools took part in this event.

Part 1 (First Aid & Home Nursing) was held at HKCCCU Logos Academy on 9 September 2018. The Team included LI Yat (Leader) LAM Jing Long, Oliver, PAK Yu Hin and CHEUNG Chun Lim. We were the Champion in First Aid.

Part 2 (Foot Drill and Uniform Inspection) was held in Lai Chi Kok Park on 23 September 2018. The Team was LI Yat (Leader) WAI Tsz Ho, CHAU Tin Wo, Pax, CHOW Ho Yin, LAM Jing Long, Oliver, WONG Ho Tung, CHAN Pak Tung, CHEUNG Chun Lim, CHEUNG Sze Wang, LAM Chun Shing, LAM Yat Chun, LI Ka Him, MAN Shun Lap, PAK Yu Hin and SUEN Yuk Sing. We won the Championshoip in Foot Drill.

Finally, in the Overall 2nd Runner-Up of Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Brigade Youth New Territories Command Inter-Divisional Competition 2018, we were the 2nd Runner-Up.

TAI Lok Ming won a gold medal in the Hong Kong International Wushu Competition!

TAI Lok Ming of 1W received a gold medal in the 13th Hong Kong International Wushu Competition held from 19th to 21st August 2018. Among the 2500 participants from 16 countries/cities in the whole competition, Lok Ming won the gold medal in the section of 33 kg Boys’ Wushu Sanshou (武術散手). Congratulations to Lok Ming!

Gordon Ho won a silver medal in the Asian Games 2018!

HO Hoi Tung, Gordon (Form 7 Graduate of the Class of 2010) won the silver medal in the recent Asian Games 2018 at Jakarta, Indonesia! He is a member of the Hong Kong Bridge Team. This is the first time bridge has been an event in the Asian Games and they made history for Hong Kong. Congratulations to Gordon again!

KIANG Bo Kai won the world championship title!!!

We are pleased to announce that KIANG Bo Kai from 3T won the Gold medal of Boy’s Jianshu and Silver medal of Boy’s Qiangshu in the 7th World Junior Wushu Championships held at Brasilia, Brazil from 9th to 16th July 2018. In addition, Ho Yin Ching from 3M also got the 1st place in the Boys’ Group B Daoshu and 3rd place in Boys’ Group B Gunshu. They are now world champion! With their efforts, China Hong Kong team ranked 1st in Wushu Taolu category in the whole championship! Congratulations to Nick, Clapman and China Hong Kong team!

It was a good chance for Form 6 graduates to play rugby after finishing their HKDSE examinations. The games were friendly and everyone enjoyed very much. English Reading Contest – Page Turner 2017-2018

The Page Turner Reading contest originally started out with 6 teams, however three teams cannot enter the final due to failing to complete the required reading in time (6 books in 6 weeks). So, the Opposing Teams in the Final were Pentecostal Lam Hon Kwong School and CUHKFAA Chan Chun Ha Secondary School.

Teams were required to answer 70 questions in two rounds based on the authors, settings, characters, plots, messages, themes, writing techniques and literary devices. Round 1 consisted of 20 questions that had to be answered within 8 minutes. Questions were in the form of short responses and completing the missing dialogue. Round 2 consisted of 50 multiple choice questions using Kahoot.

In the end our team won by over 50 points, which they are very pleased about especially after finding out that the team who came in 2nd place is a band 1 school. Congratulations to our boys!

HKICPA Accounting and Business Management Case Competition 2017-18

For the 3rd consecutive year, our Form 5 students studying BAFS took part and won awards in the HKICPA Accounting and Business Management Case Competition 2017-18. Students used their accounting and business knowledge to analyse the business case of Hung Fook Tong, a local herbal tea chain store, and provide business solutions in a written proposal.

Among the 474 teams with 1,706 students from around 111 schools, the team led by 5J FONG Ching Adam won the Merit Award (best 30 proposals) and the team led by 5M TSANG Po Man won the Proficiency Award (next best 49 proposals). 5M TSANG Po Man also won the HKICPA Scholarship for Secondary Schools awarded on his academic achievement. 粵港姊妹學校中華經典美文誦讀比賽

More than 30 students from TSSS and our sister school, Futian Qiaoxiang Foreign Language School (侨香外国语学校), joined the Guangzhou-Hong Kong sister schools group speaking competition (粵港姊妹學校中華經典美文誦讀比賽) held on 21 April 2018 (Saturday). There are 12 pairs of schools in this competition and we got merit award. Congratulations! The final rehearsal was held at our school in the morning and 7 teachers and parents including their school management (柏副校長, 王主任, 溫老師) came together. Their school management also visited our school campus and had an exchange with our principal.

Our Choir at Music Festival

The School Choir just performed in the 70th Music Festival with a proficient score of 78. Apart from the set piece, Joshua's Battle, they also showed their endeavour through a contrasting piece from the America, Shenandoah. After competing with some excellent choirs including Carmel Pak U Secondary School and St. Stephen's College, our choir members have gained valuable experience and will continue to advance themselves.

First Fencing Overall Championship!

During 10 to 12 November 2017, our Tak Sun boy 6P Adrian Chor Hiu Lung represented China Hong Kong in the FIE Fencing World Cup Men’s Foil Individual and Team Competitions - Prince Takamado Trophy Tokyo 2017 (高円宮杯), organized by the Japanese Fencing Federation. Adrian earned lots of experiences from different fencers all over the world in this event.

Tak Sun won the championship of A-Grade Badminton

Our A Grade Badminton Team got the first championship title for Tak Sun this year. In the Final, although we lost the first match to Jockey Club Ti-I College, we finally won by 3:1. Our team members in the doubles played exceptionally good! This is also the first A-Grade Badminton championship in our history. Congratulations to all team players, our coach and teacher advisor! Well done, boys!

Tak Sun in social service

A group of 18 students, supervised by our School Social Worker Mr. Yung, had supported a sport and social service event (Running Teens 2017) organized by the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong. They appreciated the hard work paid by our student volunteers. Among them, 6T WAN Chun Yat received the best performance award. Congratulations and well done boys!

This year in the HKSSF New Territories Sha Tin and Sai Kong Area, Tak Sun ranked 3rd Runner-Up overall with 231 points. Both the Table Tennis and Handball Teams were overall Champions. Our Grade C Handball Team unfortunately lost in 7m shooting at a score 8:9 after a draw with PLK CWC College in the HKSSF Handball (Shatin & Sai Kung Area) Final. They did have great experiences and learn from mistakes from the match. We believe it is the path to the future success!

In addition, as Grade AB Handball team won the Championship, we won the Overall Handball Championship 2016-2017 in Shatin & Sai Kung Area. We would like to thank all the supports from the School, parents and alumni! Congratulations to our Tak Sun Family!

HKICPA Accounting and Business Management Case Competition 2016-17

14 Form 5 students studying BAFS took part in the HKICPA Accounting and Business Management Case Competition 2016-2017. They used their accounting and business knowledge to analyze the business case of Bauhaus, a local fashion chain, and provide business solutions in a written proposal. Among the 526 teams with 1,808 students from around 150 schools, the team led by 5W Chan Wai Chun Vincent was chosen as one of the best 29 proposals and won the Merit Award.

5W Sin Hei Man Ryan also won the HKICPA Scholarship for Secondary Schools awarded on his academic achievement.

2016-17 HKSSF Jing Ying Swimming Tournament

The school swimming team joined the All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Swimming Tournament (2016-2017 年度全港學界精英游泳比賽)at the Hong Kong Sports Institute, Fo Tan on 10th May (Wednesday). In the 4 x 50m Medley Relay the team came in 5th place against very difficult opposition. The result was a follows: 1st Diocesan Boys’ School; 2nd St Joseph’s College; 3rd La Salle College; 4th Ying Wa College; 5th Tak Sun SS. In addition, Bowen Ting achieved 7th place in the 50m backstroke. St Joseph’s College was the overall winner this year with 5 gold 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Rugby Sevens Friendly Tournament

The school rugby AB-grade team organized a friendly tournament at King’s Park on Monday 8th May evening. Three others schools were invited to play: YMCA Christian College (Tung Chung), La Salle College and Ng Yuk Secondary School. The tournament was very competitive and very friendly. This was a good opportunity for the A-grade team members to play sports after many weeks months of HKDSE examinations. All the schools involved have asked us to repeat the event in 2018.

Annual Finals of the Joint School Music Competition 2017

After achieving the Gold Prize in the Joint School Music Competition 2017, our School Wind Band were invited to participate in the Annual Finals, which were held on 3 May 2017 at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Participating schools included Good Hope School and Wa Ying College (from the Strings Competition), S.K.H. Lam Kau Mow Secondary School (from the Orchestra Competition), and Kwun Tong Government Secondary School (from the Wind Band Competition). With another refreshing performance, we were awarded a high score of 276 out of 300, and won the 1st runner-up. Congratulations again to all band members and teachers!

After a month of training in April, they participated in the Hong Kong Inter-school Dodgeball Competition and won the 2nd runner-up in the Junior Form Team Championships! Our Grade B Swimming Team won the Overall Champion and Grade C Swimming Team won the Overall 2nd Runner-Up in the HKSSF Shatin & Sai Kung Area. Thanks for their hardworking in training throughout the year and got such wonderful results. They won 8 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals in the Competitions. HUNG Man Ching of 3J and KO Ka Chung Boston of 5T have participated in the All Hong Kong Inter-Secondary Schools Gymnastics Competition 2017. Man Ching got the 1st in Floor Exercise, 1st in Horizontal Bar, 4th in Vault and hence he got the 1st in All Around (Boys’ Junior). Boston got the 3rd in the Floor Exercise, 6th in Vault, 7th in Horizontal Bar, 7th in Parallel Bars and hence he got the 6th in All Round (Boys Senior). Congratulations to Man Ching and Boston!

Joint School Music Competition Gold Medal

The School Wind Band won the Gold Prize in the Joint School Music Competition 2017, fruit of long endeavor and diligent rehearsing. The competition was held at Yuen Long Theatre on 22 March and some 30 schools participated. The Wind Band played a piece called “Rhythm Dance.” The judge commented that our band members gave an "impressive performance" and they were awarded a remarkable score of 93 out of 100. Together with Kwun Tong Government Secondary School and Wa Ying College, we were awarded the Gold Prize! Congratulations to all band members, and thank you, teachers, for your efforts!

2nd Choir Championship title

Our School Choir won the champion of the Boys Junior Secondary School Choir (Second Division) in the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival on 3 March 2017, 12 years since last time! They got 80 points and won over some other traditional schools, including St. Louis School, Hong Kong Tang King Po College and Salesian English School. Three students from Class 1P won 2nd runner-up in the Public Speaking Team – Non-Open Secondary Form 1-3 Boys competition. The team members are CHU Chun Hei, LIU Balman and SILVANO Tristan Jay. Music exchange of Singapore Bendemeer Secondary School
A group of 50 students and teachers from Singapore Bendemeer Secondary School came to visit us for a Music and cultural exchange. Their Wind Band and our School Wind Band played lots of wonderful music pieces and finally both Wind Bands joined together to play a finale. This is a wonderful sharing the joyfulness of music. The A-Grade Cross Country gave a great performance in the 2016-17 HKSSF Inter-school Cross Country race at Tai Tong Country Park and came 1st runner-up against over 20 other schools with almost 200 runners on a 6.5 kilometer route. See the table below for individual prizes and positions.

A-Grade Rugby Team season begins

The A-Grade Rugby team played their first match in Tin Shui Wai against their most difficult opponent YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College, Tung Chung. The Tak Sun team played bravely against tough opposition and the final score was 26-7. Our team learned a lot and managed to score some points. Many thanks to Mr. Jackie Chan and Turkey, our Hong Kong Rugby Union appointed coach.

POON Tsz Kiu of 6P and POON Dominic of 6J won the 2nd runner-up in pair event of the Sham Shui Po Youth Bowling Competition 2016-2017. The school had sent out 4 team members to compete with more than 30 pairs and 80 athletes. This is a good encouragement before our school team participates in the coming inter-school competitions. Congratulations!

TSSS St John Ambulance Cadets N.T. Overall Champion

Yesterday in Cheung Sha Wan Sports Ground, the TSSS St John’s Cadets won six major prizes including Group D Champion, Uniform Inspection 1st Runner-Up, Foot Drill – Champion, First Aid 1st Runner-Up, Home Nursing 1st Runner-Up and Overall Champion of Groups A-B-C-D.

The cadets, under the leadership of Justin Leung, have trained very hard all summer also at weekends practicing for the competition. Many old boys also come back to help led by Gabriel Tai, Mar Cheng, Lau Kei, Felix Pun, Felix Au, Russell Wong and others. Many thanks to our old boys for helping our students and congratulations to the St. John’s Ambulance Cadets for the best performance in their history.
