Joint School Staff Development Day
The International Boys’ Schools Coalition (IBSC) has organized its first Regional Conference in Hong Kong. As a member school of the IBSC, we coordinate with Diocesan Boys’ School and St. Paul’s College in organizing workshops for their staff members in the theme of “Teaching Boys”. A famous educational consultant, Dr. Abigail Norfleet James was invited from the United States, to conduct those workshops. With her expertise is developmental and educational psychology as applied to the gendered classroom, every teacher got more insight in organizing a better class for the boys.

Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery Exhibition
The committee members of History Club organized an exhibition called "Traditional Marriage in Hong Kong" in the Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery. Championships of the Hong Kong 2009 Duathlon Series
The School Cross Country Team members Fong Tsz Lok of 3M, Chan Ching Him of 2T, YEUNG Lok Lai of 2T and YIM Ho Yin of 1J won the Championship of both Race 1 and Race 2 in the section of Course B2 – Boys’ School Team of the competition organized by the Hong Kong Triathlon Association. Congratulations!

Hong Kong Elite District Team Championships
Twenty-one of our students from the B grade and C grade handball teams were selected to represent Shatin in competitions in the Hong Kong Elite Handball District Team Championship held on 31st May. Our students won the championships in two competitions, one in the “under 16” age group and the other in the “under 15” age group. Cliff Tong of 3P got the MVP award in this event.

HKSSF Football Championship
Our Grade B Football Team got the championship of the 2008-09 HKSSF Shatin and Sai Kung Area Football Competition. Congratulations!

Visit to Caritas School of Nursing
A group of Form 6 students visited the Caritas School of Nursing. They made use of this golden opportunity to explore more regarding their careers. More visits have been organized with the aid from our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). For more information, please visit our PTA website.

Visitors from the Guangzhou No. 2 Middle School
In order to enhance continuous professional development, the Guangzhou No. 2 Middle School sent a group of six teachers to visit our School. Several teaching demonstrations and professional sharing sessions were conducted. This is indeed a milestone epitomizing the educational partnership between Tak Sun Secondary School and our sister school in China.

HKSSF Shatin & Sai Kung Area Handball Competition
Our B Grade Handball team lost in the Final (16:17) and got the 1st runner-up. It is not an easy job to be the champion for the third consecutive year. However, it surely was an invaluable experience for our boys to learn from the game, which was an important lesson before the next success. Keep it up, boys!

Ma On Shan Azalea Festival 2009
The Opening Ceremony and the Plantation Day of the 4th Ma On Shan Azalea Festival, sponsored by the Shatin District Council, was held on 1st March at our school. Our principal, Dr. Edward Woo was invited as a guest of honour in the Opening Ceremony. Our students participated in the plantation of azalea along the Ning Tai Road so that azalea can be seen everywhere and has become a landmark of the Ma On Shan district.

Hong Kong Elite District Team Championships
Ten B grade & C grade handball team members were picked by Wong Tai Sin District Handball Team (There are 14 team members in that team). They got the Championship of Kowloon Area and they also got the 2nd runner up in the Hong Kong District Handball Team Competition 2008-2009.

HKSSF Shatin & Sai Kung Area Handball Competition
Our A grade Handball team has tried their best in the game and finally they got the 2nd runner-up in the competition, which is the best result in the last 5 years. We have the potentials to have positions in all three grades. Congratulations! Well done, boys!

HKSSF Inter-school Athletics Championships 2009
Our athletic team performed very well in the Championships. A Grade ranked the 8th place (Merit) while C Grade ranked the 7th place (Merit) among more than 2000 competitors from 50 school teams in Shatin and Sai Kung Area. Well done!

HKSSF School Individual Fencing Competition 2009
LAI Clarence Ka Tsun of 6A and WONG Tsz Ho, Kevin of 1T got the champion of the A-Grade Epee and C-Grade Epee respectively. Also, AU Chun Yuen, Jack of 3T got the 2nd runner-up of B-Grade Sabre. This is the first time for our school received rankings in all 3 grades. Congratulations, boys! Besides, LAI Clarence Ka Tsun of 6A is now currently ranked No. 1 among all Hong Kong Epee players (boys’ age under 20) and ranked 11 among all Hong Kong male Epee players! Well done, Clarence!

Choir Performance at the Cathedral
Our School Choir was invited to give a performance in the Centenary of the Birth of Rev. Lau Wing Yiu Concert at the Cathedral on Hong Kong Island on 13th December 2008. Shatin National Education Quiz Competition
Our school team got the 1st runner-up in the Shatin National Education Quiz Competition, organized by the Shatin Inhabitants Association. The team members are FUNG Sau Yi, Erik, LAM Wang Fung, David, LING Chun Ho, Brian and YAU Ming Kei, Samuel of 4B. Well Done!

Tak Sun Cup Mathematics Competition
This is the first year the school organizes an invitational competition for primary school. Four different schools have been invited to this competition: Dr. Catherine F Woo Memorial School (am), Dr. Catherine F Woo Memorial School (pm), Kowloon City Baptist Church Hay Nien Primary School and Leung Kui Kau Lutheran Primary School. Finally, Leung Kui Kau Lutheran Primary School won the champion. All primary students enjoyed the atmosphere of our school.

HKSSF Inter-school Cross-country Competition
With a wonderful team spirit, our school Cross-country Teams received good results in all 3 Grades: Merit in A Grade, 2nd runner-up in B Grade and 1st runner-up in C Grade. Besides, in C Grade, CHAN Ching Him of 2T got the individual champion. YUEN Cheuk Bun, Benjamin of 1W and PUN Yiu Chung, Jonathan of 4D got 6th place in C Grade and B Grade respectively. Very well done, boys!

Hong Kong Community Weather Information Network
The School and the Hong Kong Observatory celebrated the first Anniversary of the Hong Kong Community Weather Information Network (HK CO-WIN) on 5th November 2008. It is a precious opportunity for the School to contribute to the society by providing pieces of real-time weather info to the Hong Kong Observatory.

Inter-school Swimming Competition
LAM Fong Ting, Oscar of 3P got the gold medal in the B Grade Boys’ 200m individual medley and the silver medal in the B Grade Boys’ 100m breaststroke individual. Our B Grade swimming team got the silver medal in the B Grade Boys’ 4 x 50m freestyle relay. In addition, our swimming team got the 4th place in the Grade B overall championship. Well done, boys!

The HK Youth Aged Group Handball Competition 2008
They got the 1st runner-up last year in Aged Group Handball Competition 2007. They have had been defeated by the team who was the 1st runner-up in this competition at last. They felt disappointed and regretful but they still had a chance to get the championship before the end of all the matches. This is the rule of this game! However, they knew what failure was and they knew how they could succeed. At last, they beat that team again and got the Championship finally!

Taiwan Tien Jiem Cup Handball Tournament 2008
It was great news that 4 Tak Sun Boys represented had Hong Kong and gone to Taiwan to join the Taiwan National Tie Zhen Cup Handball Tournament (全國鐵砧盃手球賽2008) out of 18 players (aged under 16) in Hong Kong from 20 to 25 August. Seen in the photo are LEE Wai Tung, Tony of 4A, TANG Pak Hong of 3W, LAM Yung Kwan, Aaron of 2W and TANG Siu Hang of 2J selected as members of the Hong Kong Handball Junior Squad in 2008.

The 22nd HK 5 on 5 Children Handball Competition
In the past three months, competitions were interrupted several times by the weather. Students have learnt patience and stamina because they had to face three matches per day in the Final. Finally, they beat the last year champion and became the champion in Hong Kong.

Visit by Bishop Javier Echevarria
It is our honour that the School hosted a gathering with the Prelate of Opus Dei. There were gatherings with our teachers, parents and students and friends from differnt countries. Thereafter all of them went to the School Hall for the Get-together.

The 7th Akita Cup Beach Handball Open (C Grade)
This was the first time our boys had played handball on sand. They went to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to play handball. Maybe this was the first time they had entered and had competition in a university. This was a special experience for them to experience university life. They enjoyed sun-bathing while playing Beach Handball, but it was hard to run on the hot sand. Moreover, they should learn how to adapt to the new rules of Beach Handball but they tried hard to play. They got the Second Runner-up and the 5th place finally.

TSSS Choirs at Ave Maria
Our School Choir was invited to give a performance for an annual event "Ave Maria" at St. Anthony’s Church. The event is celebrating the month of Mary. Our school choir performed "For The Beauty Of The Earth" by John Rutter and then performed, with Tak Oi Secondary School, "Rise On Wings of Hope" by Brian Carr. HKSSF C-Grade Handball Competition 2007-2008
Our C-Grade Handball has won the championship in the competition. Our team defeated the Po Leung Kuk C W Chu College with 20:8 in the final. Out of 56 school teams in the district, we are the winner in both B-Grade and C-Grade. It reflects our boys’ perseverance in the 9-month intensive training. Well Done, boys!

Hong Kong Elite District Team Championship
Twelve boys from our B-Grade & C-Grade handball teams have been selected and trained for the Hong Kong Elite District Team Championship. They have represented Kowloon & New Territories East in this game. Finally, they got Second runner-up in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong and Macau Inter-School Straw Competition
Two groups of 2T students (group 1: LEE Ka Huen, Bryan, WONG Siu Kei, Michael, CHAU Kwan Hang, Denis, LAI Chi Fung, Antony; group 2: LAM Ho Wang, Marco, HO Samuel Cheuk-Hong, FUNG Man Nok, Norman, LAM Pui Kin Jeremy) participated in the Hong Kong and Macau Inter-School Straw Competition 2008 (junior group) “Roll in the City” organized by the Physics and Material Science Society of the City University of Hong Kong Students' Union. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the competition and gained valuable experience. They are looking forward to joining the competition again next year!

Championship in the Southern District Beach Run
Our cross-country running team members, KWOK Tsz Leung of 3P, PUN Yiu Chung, Jonathan of 3P, CHAN Chun Hung, Stanley of 6A and SIU Cheuk Wing of 6A, won the Championship in the Southern District Beach Run welcoming the Olympic Torch Relay among 40 secondary school teams in Hong Kong.

Aviation Week
The Aviation Week was held from 21 April to 25 April 2008. The objective was to empower our students to have more explorations in science and career prospects in the local and international aspects of the aviation industry. During the last two days, a mini airplane was displayed on school campus. Many students, who had a touchable hands-on experience to be a pilot sitting inside the cockpit, really fell in love with experiential learning!

Hong Kong Historic Buildings Photo Competition
Lau Sing Lai of 3J, one of our Photography Team members, won the Merit Award of Conservation and Revitalisation of Historic Buildings Photo Competition among more than 1,000 entries. This photograph was shot in front of the former Kowloon-Canton Railway Clock Tower. The new buildings in the photograph symbolize the new 21st century. In this photograph, there is a boy taking pictures and it means that everybody will still pay attention to the Clock Tower in the years to come while the stars suggest that the Clock Tower will continue to shine and attract visitors in the future.

Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes 2008
CHOW Hok Him, Hugo of 5C and MOK Yi Yun, Jonathan of 6B were awarded the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Prizes for Senior Secondary School Students. This is a prize that will definitely encourage them to attain a higher standard of learning and to further develop their leadership abilities.

Visit to Guangzhou No. 2 Middle School
The School Supervisor, the Principal, the Vice-principal, Directors, as well as a group of English and Chinese teachers paid a whole-day visit to our sister school during the Easter break. Apart from visiting the school campuses of their junior and senior schools, we also had lesson observation, group discussion and sharing sessions. Our English Teachers also organized teaching demonstrations for 2 junior form classes. It is believed that further cooperation will take place later. [CLICK PHOTO FOR VIDEO]

HKSSF B-Grade Handball Competition 2007-2008
Our B-Grade Handball has won the championship in the competition. With a good start of 6:0, our team defeated the YMCA College with 21:15 in the final. Lee Wai Tung, Tony of 4A scored 10 goals. It reflects our boys’ perseverance in training and stability in performance.

60th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival
Our school treble choir has won the first place with 90 marks among 35 teams. We are at least 3 marks higher than the other 3 teams in the second place and 4 marks higher than the other 4 teams in the third place. It definitely demonstrates the Tak Sun team spirit. Well Done, boys!

HKSSF Inter-school Distance Run Championships 2008
Our cross-country running team has got brilliant results! Our A, B and C Grade team members have got the 1st runner-up, the 3rd runner-up and the 2nd runner-up respectively in the Championships among about 40 teams in Shatin and Sai Kung.

Good news in the 60th Schools Music Festival
Our school intermediate choir, with Tak Oi Secondary School Choir has won the third place in the category of the Folk Church Music - Secondary School Choir (Age 18 and under). It demonstrates the efforts paid in the preparation and collaboration between schools. Their performance at Tak Sun Family Fun Day was highly appreciated by the parents. Congratulations!

Exhibition of Secondary Students' Creative VA Work
The creative products from LO Lut Yin, Kavier of 2P and LEE Le Tian, Ken Leite Frederick of 4D have been selected for display in the exhibition. Their artworks were displayed in Room WP01, Podium, West Block, Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon until 23 February.

Orientation Day of Exceptionally Gifted Students
Six students have been selected by the EDB in the Support Measures for the Exceptionally Gifted Student Enhancement Programme, including LUI Tsz Ching, Jason of 4D (Mathematics), LUK Ka Him, Peter of 6A (Science), YAU Ho Yin, Ringo of 6B (Computer Science), SHAM Long Yin, Jacky of 4B (Social Science), WONG Ki Sum Samson of 6A (Social Science) and MOK Yi Yun, Jonathan of 6B (Leadership). They will participate in a series of programmes provided by different tertiary institutions and non-government organizations to enhance their talents in their specialized areas.

Hong Kong District Handball Competition 2007-2008
The Shatin District Handball Team has won the 5th place in the Competition. In this district team, there are 14 Tak Sun boys! Some of them might be selected in the Hong Kong Youth Team for further training. [CLICK PHOTO FOR VIDEO]

Ma On Shan Cup 8K Distance Run Competition 2008
Under the freezing temperature (10C), two sub-groups of our cross-country team won the 2nd and the 3rd places among more than 30 teams in Hong Kong. This event was one of the official activities to celebrate the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

HKSSF Inter-school Athletics Championships 200708
Our athletic team performed very well in the Championships on three days – 22nd, 24th and 29th January. Both B and C Grade athletic teams ranked the 6th place (Merit) while Grade A ranked the 8th place (Merit) among more than 2000 competitors from 50 school teams in Shatin and Sai Kung Area.

Hong Kong Red Cross Youth of The Year Award 2007
LI Ho Wang Kenneth of 7A, leader of the YU 304 (TSSS) last year, received the Hong Kong Red Cross Youth of The Year Award 2007. The award is to recognize his outstanding contribution to the community through Red Cross service in the last academic year. He shared with more than 600 audiences about his happy moments in this uniform group. Congratulations!

Diabetes Hongkong Healthy Run 2008
The Diabetes Hong Kong held this event in Tai Po Tolo Harbour. The aim of this Health Run was to raise the awareness of Hong Kong people on the diabetes and the importance of regular exercise. Six representatives from our school cross-country team completed the race and received certificates.

Joint School Oral Practice
In order to help our F7 students better prepare for their public examinations, different schools have been invited for English oral practices. Teachers from different schools gave the participants valuable comments immediately afterwards. The students have learnt a lot and felt more confident about the examination.

Joint School Christmas Ball
The Ball entitled “Night of Mystery” was organized at our school. This was an event jointly organized by the Student Associations of Sha Tin Methodist College, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School, Christian Alliance Cheng Wing Gee College and S.K.H. Lam Kau Mow Secondary School and our school. Apart from celebrating the true meaning of Christmas, students were able to upgrade their interpersonal skills.

School Choir Performance at Festival Walk
Our School Choir was invited by the Festival Walk to give a performance of Christmas Carols. This year, Tak Oi Secondary School was invited to celebrate this happy moment. Their performance attracted many people in the shopping mall and gained great applause. Merry Christmas!

Junior Achievement Company Programme
Ten F6 students organized a mini-company in the Junior Achievement Company Programme. It encouraged young people to participate in a range of activity-based education programmes, which were designed to help them understand the world of work and develop their entrepreneurial thinking, career aspiration and other life-wide values essential to their future success. They had a wonderful experience.

Clean Hong Kong Ambassadors
Thirty students were awarded Bronze Medals of the Clean Hong Kong Ambassadors. With the aid of the Home Affairs Department, we invited the Environmental Protection Department to deliver a talk to raise students’ awareness of the importance of the environmental protection.

Inter-school Fencing Competition
LAI Clarence Ka Tsun of 5A got the Championship in the A Grade Boys’ Epee. AU Chun Yuen, Jack of 2T got the 2nd place in the C Grade Boys' Sabre. In addition, our Fencing Team got the 3rd place in the B Grade Boys' Foil and Boys' Overall Championship. Well done, boys!

Inter-school Cross-country Competition
With a wonderful team spirit, our school Cross-country Teams received 3 trophies in all 3 Grades: 2nd runner-up in A Grade, 3rd runner-up in B Grade and 2nd runner-up in C Grade. Besides, CHAN Chun Hung, Stanley of 6A and TSANG Ka Nan, Nathan of 5B got 6th and 7th places respectively in A Grade; PUN Yiu Chung, Jonathan of 3P got 9th place in B Grade and CHAN Ching Him, Carter of 1T got 5th place in C Grade. Very well done, boys!

59th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival
In the Speech Festival, LEUNG Edwin Yung Hong of 6A got the championship in the category of Solo Verse Speaking - Non-Open Secondary 6-7 Boys with 96 marks – a very remarkable achievement! The adjudicator, Mr. Paul Trigg, was totally impressed by Edwin's performance and praised him for his “Excellent performance. Perfect diction.” It definitely indicates Tak Sun boys really learn joyfully in a holistic English-speaking environment on and off campus.

Visit from Guangzhou No. 2 Middle School
Being our sister school, the Guangzhou No. 2 Middle School sent three representatives to visit our school. More professional sharing sessions will be conducted in the future. This is a milestone epitomizing the educational partnership between Tak Sun Secondary School and our motherland.

Hong Kong Secondary Schools Visual Arts Creativity
CHAN Yin Fung of 4A won the championship in the junior section of the competition in the category of photography. This is a good example of our students’ versatility in the realm of lifelong and lifewide learning.

Inter-school Swimming Competition (11-12 Oct 2007)
WONG Tung Lok Jack of 1T got the gold medal in the C Grade Boys’ 50m backstroke individual. CHAN Chi To Kingsley of 3P got the silver medal in the B Grade Boys’ 50m free style individual. In addition, our swimming team received a merit in the B Grade Overall Championship. Well done, boys!

C Grade Handball Team
Our C Grade handball team got the 1st runner up for the Hong Kong Aged Group Handball Tournament (Below 14). This is our second time getting a prize in open competitions. Also, 14 students of our handball team have been selected to join the Shatin District Handball Team (Below 15).
